Inventory control is nothing but monitoring the systems like purchasing, shipping, receiving, tracking, warehousing and storage, turnover and reordering. It is very important these activities should be performed in a systematic steps in order to maintain a good inventory control system.

The inventory levels in retail stores are monitored by using single-period model. By using this system, retail store order inventory when there are very little or no value at the end of a sales period. This system is used because the items are sold at regular price and demand is variable.
