Features that are important to the success of wellness programs are:

  • Employees are aware - The employees are health conscious and have an inclination towards these programs. The programs are going to be a success only if employees sign for it and employees would sign for it if they are mindful of their healthcare needs. Further, employees must be aware of this programs to utilize them fully and in general, successful wellness programs are those that lead to behavior change among employees.
  • Several Pograms are Available and easily accessible - Wellness programs must be of several types. This could include Meditation sessions, Yoga or specific programs to control smoking or stress related to work. The programs must be available at a time suitable to the majority of employees and employees must be able to sign up easily for these.
  • Incentives are tied to Programs - For a successful wellness program employers need to incentivize healthy behaviors. Incentives help in building a culture of wellness and motivates employees towards a healthy lifestyle. For example - There are countries which give bonuses if employees maintain their weight/waistline. OR free health check-ups are done annually free of cost.
