Team Identity:
Team identity is the unique identity of the team which has been shared among all individual when the individuals are together.
The Team identity has been created by the members of the team. It actually needs the resources such as time, intention and energy.
Whenever the team identity I created one should remember the following C’s are as follows:
Clarity is about the team mission and vision. Before developing an identity, one should keep in mind about the mission and vision. The goals and timelines are also plays important roles. The level of authority should be clear related to the individual project.
Commitment is the dedication toward the work. So, here the identification of level of commitment is required by the members of the team. This would maintain the specificity in the team. It also encourages the commitment of individual.
Contribution is done when the individual strength and weaknesses are identified which actually tells about the skills, knowledge and expertise level of the individual. According to which the work has been allocated. This would help in delegating the appropriate work according to the delegated tasks.
Concerns is the individual voice of the team members which takes part in the project. The members of the team should raise the voice of their concerns.
To establish the team identity the following activities should be followed such are mentioned below:
The team members identity is so important here because the individual of the team has their own commitments, contributions and concerns. The team runs the risk of suffering from hidden agendas, wavering commitment, faulty assumptions, and unclear expectations. It also contributes to team trust, role clarification, and explicit expectations.
So, they have to be uniquely identified within the team. When there is no identity it is hard to differentiate the team among other teams.
Team identity actually developed on the basis of how well the team demonstrates belongingness, a desire to work together, and a sense of clarity around the role of each member which is very much important.
