Answer 1: Managerial implications of need-based motivational theories with addition to that which need-based theory pose a challenge to manager overall is explained below :

  • Understanding each one of the needs to motivate as prescribed by the motivational theories for a manager is key to address the motivational issues at the workplace, As one person's motivation drive will not be the same as another which impacts the manager to take decision on motivating.
  • Looking into both the motivational theory as Maslow's hierarchy of needs & ERG thoery of motivation managers implication on it as per organization/workplace is key in managing motivation whereby it starts to provide a safe workplace with job security addition to make the employee motivated to manage the overall job effectively.  Both need theories to pose a challenge for managers in motivating as it goes with the strict hierarchical structure that requires managing the person's ambiguity & stress at all levels added to the job.
  • Both the need thoery of motivation can be implied by the manager as an individual, but they are distinct with each other which one focus on the hierarchy of need that goes from basic to esteem & other speaks about the three categories of needs as Existence, relatedness & growth which thereby affect the managerial decision of motivation. Assessing the needs with these theories, in addition, it challenges a person has with border interaction throughout the firm, with professional growth may take a manager longer to work on it. Defining a team-based structure that addresses all the needs with more challenges at border perspective is required to address on motivational aspects addition to job insecurity if a persons role is not clear.
  • All the need process theories can be added to integrated with organizational structures demands as not single thoery can benefit the managers one a single pace. Managing the challenges overall need-based theories within implications of it by understanding the core aspects of motivation is the key. So the managers are liable to look into implication of these theories not on single thoery but try to integrate all the theories to make the motivation on going to manage the workplace better.

Answer 2: Following are the two approaches to job design that helps to motivate the employees better which are explained below:

1) The Socio-Technical Approach of job design:

  • As per this approach of job design, it focused on evolution of the work of individuals in addition to groups that can be integrated to motivate better. This includes the design of the firm that best fits its goals thereby focus on employees that must be actively involved in designing the organization structures, to control the variances that happen in production/service by undertaking close check on all the parameters.
  • Managing the support systems with appropriate design of the firm, in addition to high-quality work-life & thereby adapting/adopting changes continuously with the demands of environmental needs, social needs, & technological demands is what this approach emphases on. Understanding all these aspects of the approach of job design helps the manager/firm in motivating the employees in better terms.

2) Core characteristics model:

  • In addition to the above approach of job design, another model/approach of job design is this which maintains five major job elements that help the manager to motivate workers & enhance the performance by all means.
  • The five elements of this job design are Skill Variety, Task Identity, Task significance, Autonomy & job feedback which addition to these are individual elements that are proposed to make the process positively achieved through three major psychological states as per this approach as Experienced meaningfulness, Experienced responsibilities & knowledge of results.
  • All the above core aspects/components of this model/approach clearly define the manager to take this aspect into consideration to make the motivation better in all terms as well as enhance the performance at the workplace into better means. holistically by integrating all the above.
