Let us look at the problem below and discuss a solution applying the following facts:  

1. You are having a party Saturday night for 10 people.
2. You have a room for a party.
3. There are three people helping you: 1 person in charge of renting the room, 1 person in charge of ordering the food, and 1 person in charge of clean up.

Respond to the following questions:

1. What transportation model would you use?
2. Would you change up the assignments of the 3 people helping you?
3. How would you handle the integer-programming problem?
4. Can the goals be met? (goal programming)

Now, imagine you have decided to expand it to 25. Refer to the first set of questions you answered, and propose a solution to expanding the party to 25.

What transportation model would you use?

Activity based transportation model would be used to plan the party as it would help in assigning the tasks of the goals to all of the three individuals.

Would you change up the assignments of the 3 people helping you?

I would not change up the assignment of 3 people helping me and would continue with the planned assignment.

How would you handle the integer-programming problem?

The integer programming problem will be handled through simulation in the excel solver so as to get the optimum solution.

Can the goals be met? (goal programming)

Goals can be effectively met as through goal programming we will perform three types of analysis: Determine the required resources to achieve a desired set of objectives, determine the degree of attainment of the goals with the available resources and providing the best satisfying solution under a varying amount of resources and priorities of the goals.
