Homework Answers

Answer #1

1. Facet means aspects so this approach considers various sides of job for pay/benefit satisfaction like pay raise, bnefits, incentives and allowances etc). Global approach means the macro approach to pay satisfaction and do not cover all areas in detail .The facet-based approach presents a detailed view of an individual’s job satisfaction in comparison to global approach.

2. Heneman and Schwab presented a hypothesis that the pay satisfaction cosnists of 5 facets :

  • Pay level
  • Salary increments
  • Benefits
  • Salary structure
  • Administration

Initally while analysing the results, there were only four factors, benefits, pay level, salary increments and structure & administration together as one. Then while applying these four factors to another sample of employees, it started supporting the multidimensional nature of pay satisfaction.
