In The Wisdom of Crowds, it is suggested that coordinating, cooperating, and cognition are different ideas that all effect how crowds work interoperate. Can you relate each of these ideas to effective project management?
Individual efforts are not sufficient in encountering the challenges of project management in modern times but instead, it requires the power of collective knowledge of people. So the project leaders must inspire the team to exhibit coordination, cognition, and cooperation. Coordination of all the people in the project organization is the first step in this. The project management team must try to convince all its members about the potential benefits of cooperation. Secondly, project management should seek the cooperation of all of the people in finding solutions to pressing problems. The people in the project management team must understand that the sum of the ideas of a crowd is better than that of the experts because it is capable of revealing all the perspectives of the problems of a project. Then the group has to contribute their cognition to the problems that will solve the challenges before the project.
The Wisdom of Crowds will not work in a project management situation if it is highly fragmented, homogeneous, or centralized. But diversity is an important element in this because a diverse organization could bring better results. Also, members of the project must think independently instead of the domination of one or two thoughts of some of the members of the project team. Also for successful coordinating, cooperating, and cognition, a proper combining method must have adopted by a project organization.
