Ineffective breathing pattern is generally considered at a particular state in which the rate, rhythm, depth or the pattern of breathing deviates from normal resulting in non availability of sufficient oxygen that could results in cell death. Hence, shallow respirations or dyspnea leads to intra abdominal fluid retention that could lead to ascites. Moreover irregular breathing is associated with the increased pressure on the diaphragm owing to the fluid retention in the abdominal cavity. The major cause of ascites is cirrhosis of liver.
