Risk for trauma related to insufficient knowledge and emotional
immaturity
Nursing interventions:
- Assess the age of child and type of article for play
- Encourage play and allow the parents to bring child's favourite
toys from home
- Select safe toys appropriate for child's age and intrest
- Plan and execute age appropriate play activity and to prepare
child for invasive procedures and observe the behaviour and allow
child to express fears and concerns
- Eliminate all sharp, broken and small toys which can be
swallowed
- Educate the parents to use non toxic and flame resistant
toys
- Educate the parents to discard the broken toys safely
- Educate the parents to choose play activity as per child
tolerance and energy
Outcomes:
Child will participate in appropriate play without injury
