When I was appointed as an assistant to RN in an Alzheimer's unit, I given liquid medication to the resident.
But the resident has spit out the medication though it's my responsibility to make the resident take his drug.
So I made him to relax and after some time again I offered the medication.,but still he is refusing.
So this time I made him to speak out freely and slowly asked him the reason for refusal. So after speaking to him I found that he is not interested in taking medication and simply refusing.
As this patient is Alzheimer's disease I thought that this is more important to inform the RN to whom I am assisting and informed her.
I documented all the incident as there should not be any problem arousing for not taking medication.
