1) Should your resting pulse rate be higher or lower than your post-exercise pulse rate?

2) Should your rate of respiration (breathing) before exercise be greater or lesser than the rate of respiration directly after exercising?

For #1, I think the answer should be "lower"

For #2, I think the answer should be "lesser"

Answer #1

1. Normal pulse rate of an adult is 60 - 100 beats/minute. So when a peson is exercising the heart beats faster. But post exercise resting heart rate will be low because heart muscles will be stronger and will be able to pumb more blood per beat. So the answer is "lower"

2. The normal respiration of an aduly is 12- 20 breats per minute.Whe n you start doing exercise our breathing rate increases in order to bring more oxygen in to lungs and pump more oxygen to blood and muscles. So the answer is "lesser"

Sit down with a family member and measure the pulse rate in their radial artery. You can do this by placing your index and middle finger on the underside of their wrist, below the base of the thumb. Take three separate readings (30 seconds each). Calculate the beats per minute by multiplying each reading by two and find the average. Record this in table one. This value will also be your trial 1 result in table two. Have your relative...

1.When you start to exercise, your muscles need more oxygen. Your body has chemoreceptors that detect the need for more oxygen and accelerate the respiration rate and the cardiovascular output. So both breathing and hear rate increase as your exercise intensity increase. This is an example of: positive or negative feedback? 2. When a capillary is damaged, a platelet plug is formed. The resting heart rate for an adult horse should average about μ = 42 beats per minute with a (95% of data) range from 18 to 66 beats per minute. Let x be a random variable that represents the resting heart rate for an adult horse. Assume that x has a distribution that is approximately normal. (a) The empirical rule indicates that for a symmetrical and bell-shaped distribution, approximately 95% of the data lies within two standard deviations of the...
