  1. Sit down with a family member and measure the pulse rate in their radial artery. You can do this by placing your index and middle finger on the underside of their wrist, below the base of the thumb. Take three separate readings (30 seconds each). Calculate the beats per minute by multiplying each reading by two and find the average. Record this in table one. This value will also be your trial 1 result in table two.
  2. Have your relative repeat step one on you.
  3. You and your family member will run on the spot for three minutes. Use a timer to guide you. Immediately after the three minutes, check each other’s pulse by following the instructions at step one. Record these results in trial 2.
  4. Rest for five minutes and measure each other’s pulse rate again. Record this as trial 3.
  5. Repeat steps three and four two more times. This will give you the results for trials 4-7.
