Glaucoma is a disease that cause damage to the eye. Because of increased pressure in the eye can cause glaucoma, this pressure can cause damage to the optic nerve, this may painful and cause loss of vision. Mostly two kinds of glaucoma are there :

  • glaucoma that happens very fast
  • glaucoma that happens very slow. This is the most common cause in world

The first priority of glaucoma is to reduce intraocular pressure (IOP). Medications are divided into several groupsbased on chemical structure and pharmacologic action.

  • Prostaglandin analogs
  • adrenergic antagonist
  • alpha 2 agonist
  • hyperosmotic agents

Ophthalmic timolol is used to treat glaucoma, is in a class of medication called beta-blockers. It works by decreasing the pressure in the eye.
