Homework Answers

Answer #1

a) Endocrine manipulation

Hormonal therapy in cancer involves manipulation of the endocrine system through external adminstaration of hormones( steriod hormones)or drugs which inhibits the production or activities of such hormones(hormone antagonist)

Endocrine manipulation is a strategy used in the treatment of most cancer types( eg. Breast cancer, prostate cancer, ovarian cancer, thyroid cancer etc)

Antibiotics is not a hormonal therapy. It is used to treat or prevent bacterial infection.

Antiestrogen therapy is a hormonal therapy but is only used in hormone sensitive breast cancer and ovarian cancer and not for other types of cancer.

Hormonal receptors are not a type hormonal therapy of cancer but they are target site where the hormonal drug binds to produce the required action.

Therefore, endocrine manipulation is the hormonal therapy used in the treatment of cancer.
