Dementia : This is an organic brain disease where a
person looses memory and judgement.This is always conditional and
where as thinking and problem solving will be
affected.
Below are few steps I follow to assist a person with
Dementia :
- Person must be treated as always a normal one and
there must be a positive interaction.
- Person should not feel that they are being
instructed specially on their abnormality.So that he or she feels
independent.
- Always person must be motivated while they are
doing things that makes them happy.
- You should never correct them frequently when
things went wrong because they feel that they are dependent.Give
time to correct themselves.
- When person feels low because of their inability
divert him or her to get relieved and slowly make them
understand.
- Always the instructions should be very clear so
they the person should not confused.
- The surrounding these person must be kept clean and
organized so that they could not get confused.
- Be patient with these type of people to make them
able to do things on their own.
- Help them to groome them selves.
- Make things that feels so special about
them
