Describe the differences between serous, serosanguinous and sanguinous drainage.

Answer : Serous drainage is clear, thin, watery plasma. It's normal during the inflammatory stage of wound healing and smaller amounts is considered normal wound drainage. Sanguineous drainage contains blood rather than protein and white cells in serous drainage. This type of drainage usually occurs with partial or completely thick wounds. Serosanguineous drainage may occur when a wound is attempting to heal. It is rarely a cause for concern. Serosanguineous drainage is one common type of wound drainage. It typically appears as the wound is trying to heal and may have a pale red or pink color.
