describe the differences between the two EEG waves of wakefulness.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

In Electroencephalogram(EEG), there are two waves of wakefulness that are seen; Alpha waves and Beta waves. Alpha waves are seen when an individual is awake and relaxed. Such waves occur because the individual's brain waves have an increasing amplitude, as a result of which, they become much slower and in sync with each other. Alpha waves can be recorded when a person relaxes, listening to soothing music.

On the other hand, Beta waves are waves that are associated with wakefulness on a daily basis. They can be recorded as a person carries on with his or her normal wakefulness in the morning, for example.
