Why is combining Hydrochloroquine and Azythromicin more efficient in eliminating a virus than using just one alone?

Homework Answers

Answer #1
  • Hydroxychloroquine is an antimalarial drug that is used in the elimination of covid -19 because it decreases the virulence of virus by preventing the fusion of virus with the human cells .it has no effect on killing the virus directly like an antiviral drug . It does decrease the viral load in the body so along with the better immunity the disease can be brought down easily .
  • Azithromycin is broad spectrum antibiotics used in treating upper respiratory infections and pneumonia . So it decreases the respiratory effects caused by the virus .
  • So combination of HCQS and azithro is considered to be a synergistic action against covid virus . It is just proposed to decrease the severity of the disease and it is not clinically proven

When doing blood testing for a viral infection, the procedure can be made more efficient and less expensive by combining partial samples of different blood specimens. If samples from three people are combined and the mixture tests negative, we know that all three individual samples are negative. Find the probability of a positive result for three samples combined into one mixture, assuming the probability of an individual blood sample testing positive for the virus is 0.09.
