Most common analgesics are narcotic analgesics and non steroidal antiinflammatory drugs

  • Narcotic analgesics Eg. Morphine and fentanyl

Action :They bind to opiod receptors that controls pain, pleasure and addictive and relieves pain.

USES:Anaesthesia, labour pain, Diabetic neuropathy, cancer pain etc.

Sideeffect:Constipation, nausea, sedation, itching, abdominal pain

  • NSAIDS Eg.Aspirin, Paracetamol

Action: reduces inflammation, pain stimulation and sensitivity

Uses:reduce pain and fever

Sideeffect : stomach pain, stomach ulcer, dizziness, vomiting, allergic reactions etc.
