1) The drug X blocks both alpha and beta adrenergic receptors. It's pharmacologicsl actions due to alpha receptor blockade include the following,

  • Vasodilation
  • Broncho constriction
  • Decreases mucus secretion

Pharmacological actions due to beta receptor blockade include the following,

  • Decreases heart rate and increase in cardiac contractility
  • Constriction of bronchioles
  • Lipogenesis

The possible uses of this dug include treating high blood pressure. Contraindications include ashthma, heart block, congestive heart disease, and liver disorders.
