The seminiferous tubules are housed in the testes and the location where sperm cells (spermatozoa) are created. Immature sperm travels from the testes the epididymis where it is stored and matures in a process called spermatogenesis ( the growing of a tail and lossing excess cytoplasm from the head). The epididymis is tightly coiled and if stretched out could reach 20 feet. It takes about two weeks for the sperm to travel the lenghth of the epididymis. Sperm leave the body during the ejaculation. Ejaculation contracts the epididymis, forcing sperm out and through the vas deference, then to the seminal vesicle and prostate glands that provide the sperm with nourishing fluid that mixes with the sperm to make semen. The semen is then ejaculated through the urethral opening via the urethra that runs through the penis.
