Opioid use disorders are associated
with high co-morbidity for Mental
illness. Opioid damages nerve cells in the body and
brain and leads to an inability to control the use of an illegal
drug or medication. Opioid reduces the perception of pain. Opioids
developed depression after a month of taking the drugs, the longer
they used, the greater their risk of developing depression
becomes.
Opioid use disorders are also
associated with co-morbidity of COPD in old adults as opioids
affect the brain which regulates breathing causes respiratory
depression by decreasing the sensitivity of peripheral
chemoreceptors.
Opioid use increased the risk of
metabolic syndrome and diabetes as
well due to nutritional deficiencies, increased cell damage.
reduced energy production and lowered antioxidants potential of the
cells.
