Michelle Kunup, a 40-year-old woman, comes into the office to see the neurologist for a consultation and is escorted by her husband. She has just had a major stroke and was released from the hospital last week. She is walking fine and has full use of her arms and so forth but her speech has been affected. Role-play the communication between the administrative medical assistant and the patient.
Directions: Write the complete dialog between the patient (middle-aged female) and the administrative medical assistant in complete descriptive sentences in paragraph form using the concepts below. Factors to include in your scenario:
1. Look directly at the patient without making her feel self-conscious.
2. Allow the patient time to think through what she is going to say; give her time to speak.
3. Do not speak for the patient or rush the conversation.
4. Do not pretend to understand; ask her to repeat as necessary.
5. Act in a courteous manner and do not shout; show sensitivity.
6. Offer a notepad as necessary.
This passage consist of conversation between. Michelle kunup and her physician in the doctors cabin with michelle. She seems to be tired but walk well. Doctor wished her energetically, she was sudden frustrated, on seeing doctor, she was troubling to find a word to reply.Gradually she understood doctor and replied to that but it was not clear. Doctor again prompted her tell it once again and tried to hear her vigorously. What happened you doctor asked kunup, she felt a sense of re- collecting past, and tried to tell but words have not come clearly, and cheek muscle did not come properly according to speeches.. she put many words but it does not make a sense. Husband also encouraged her to the matter once more, she tried to speak out, doctor started to to take down the matter she was going to tell. What about your food, kunup, doctor asked. Kunup was not fit of explaining all these, one by one she recollected problems with help of her husband. She had a swallowing problem, slow chewing food, irritation in the area of throat, coughing food back up of eating.
