Nosocomial infection is the Hospital-acquired infection which means the infection that is acquired in the hospital or other health care facility like hospitals, laboratory, nursing home, rehabilitation facilities, outpatient clinic, etc.

Now how these infections are acquired:

1. Contact transmission

2. Droplet transmission

3 Airborne transmission

4. Common vehicle transmission

5. Vector-borne transmission

Contact transmission: it is the most frequent and most important transmission I.e; by direct contact.

Droplet transmission: it is transmitted via droplets as droplets from the infected person due to coughing or sneezing propelled in the air and via air reach to the other body.

Airborne transmission: it may be due to droplets but not just this it could be due to microbes present in the air with dust particles which can stay in the air for a longer period.

Common vehicle transmission: they may be transmitted by the items containing the infectious microbes such as food, water, medicines, devices and equipment.

Vector-borne transmission: it occurs if the infection is carried by vectors such as mosquitos, rats or other vermin transmit microbes.
