TEAM BUILDING: The process of working with a team to clarify its task and how team members can work together to achieve it. A strategy that can help groups to develop into a real team is “team building”

OBJECTIVES:

  • promote team responsibility
  • develop a participatory role
  • to achieve goals

STAGES OF TEAM BUILDING PROCESS:

  • FORMING Forming Provide clear direction to establish the team’s purpose, setting goals, etc.,FOR EXAMPLE : in an organization to make plan of care for covid 19 a team of health care provider is formed, they state the purpose and goals of formed team
  • STORMING   Storming Provide strong, hands-on leadership to keep people talking and task-focused. It makes team more strong, The team member come together and starts to know each other very well. There are chances of conflict but it is a part of storming.
  • NORMING: Norming Codes of behavior becomes established and an identifiable group culture emerges. People begin to enjoy each other’s company and appreciate each other’s contributions. In these rules, regulations and policies in a team is starting to set up and enjoy each other's company. They start to work according to policy.
  • PERFORMING Performing Teams that reach this stage achieve results easily and enjoyably. In this the desired goal and objective is achieved, Group performs all the activities and perform their functions and role. FOR EXAMPLE, COVID team provide comprehensive care to the client.
  • ADJOURNING  the formed team disbands after finishing of the task and move forwards toward new task. FOR EXAMPLE COVID team after making a plan of care disbands and try to focus on new tasks.

STEPS OF TEAM BUILDING ARE:

  • problem sensing
  • examining differences
  • giving and recieving feedback
  • develop interactive skills
  • follow up actions

FOR EXAMPLE:

  • A NEED OF INFECTION CONTROL IS ASSESSED
  • AN INFECTION CONTROL TEAM IS FORMED
  • GOALS AND OBJECTIVE IS ESTABLISHED TO PREVENT NOSOCOMIAL INFECTION
  • ROLE DISTRIBUTION WAS DONE
  • STRATEGY LIKE TEACHING PLAN TO STAFF IS MADE
  • ESTABLISHED NORMS, POLICY AND RULES AND COMMUNICATED WITH EVERYONE
  • IDENTIFIED EACH STRENGTH AND WEAKNESSES
  • PERFORMED ACTIVITY LIKE GIVEN HEALTH EDUCATION
  • FEEDBACK, EVALUATION AND MEETING IS ARRANGED
  • FOLLOW UP WHETHER GOAL IS ACHIEVED
