Pathophysiology for generalized anxiety disorder:

How your body reacts to the to the stress depends different neurotransmitter systems present in our body. The most common systems that play a role in anxiety are considered to be the serotonin system and the noradrenergic neurotransmitter systems . it is considered that the low activity of the serotonin system and the increased activity of the noradrenergic system causes generalized anxiety disorder.

The other causes that can also be considered is the obstructed functionality of the amygdala

the first line drugs that are used for the treatment are SSRI and SNRI.
