Changes in Healthcare landscape:

The treatment , management and prevention of illness or the preservation of mental and physical wellbeing through the services offered by Medical, nursing and allied health professions is called the Health care. As due to huge the technological innovations, Health care landscape also changed significantly in the past decades. As a manager , one can go hand in hand with the technological innovations and professional principles and ethics. The major changes happened in the Health care landscape are :

* Medical information explosion: The body of knowledge regarding health care, body , medicine etc. doubles every 70 days due to continuing and innovative researches . To update with such explosion of knowledge , Health care professionals have to spend much time with the learning or training session. In this tight world , it is not practicable to learn and update with new knowledge every time.  'Clinical decision support system' can help the physician to cope up with the advancing knowledge.

* Rice in home health care services :

Due to the rapid rise in older population, home health care services are increasing dramatically . It became an industry of $ 103 billion and is expected by $ 173 billion by the year of 2025.

* Emergence of Health based apps:

Most of the health organizations and Government health sectors introduced many apps that can asssist the patient as well as staff. There are app facilities , that are associated with automatic equipments such as Automatic medicine dispensor, that assist in Medication administration.  

* Artificial intelligence and predictive analysis: EHR became more discerning and flexible due to the emergence and increased usability of Artificial intelligence.

* Sensors and wearable technology: Health care providers can track the health details, such as the vital signs of the patient , and then can suggest the improvements and changes in the in the patient's drug or treatment schedule. Example: changes in insulin dose or exercise schedule as per the morning's blood glucose level.  

Digital medical records, increase in Telemedicine, especially due to the current COVID 19 crisis, Increased security for patient data etc are the remaining changes in the Health care landscape.  

Issue: One of the issue in the current health care landscape,   that should handle by the managers is :

* Preventable medical errors: An increasing burden of preventable Medical errors in the Health care sector, became a major issue, that has to be handle wisely and promptly. Reliable reports from different sources revealed that , every year around 40 million patient injuries are happening, that were purely preventable. Every 100 hospitalization , there report 14 to 16 medical errors, that adversely affects mortality and morbidity among patient population.

As a manager , one has to organise aware classes and training session for Health care providers on ' ways to avoid Medical errors ' . Educate the health professionals regarding the importance of proper documentation and reporting. Medication errors are common in hospitals, the managers should motivate the nurses to advocate and protect the patient's five rights of medication such as right drug, right patient, right dose, right time and right route. Interventions to reduce staff shortage can decrease the Medical errors considerably.
