Should U.S. taxpayers pay for the health coverage (through taxes into public insurance such as Medicaid or Medicare) for people who are experiencing poverty?
In my opinion it is the ethical responsibility of people who are well off to fund the insurance of people who are poor. It is nothing but fulfilment of social responsibility. Not only that, if the insurance needs of the poor are not taken care of, they will be a burden on the economy, businesses which use them as labour will also suffer since they will not be able to afford treatment.
Hence it also makes financial sense to support the insurance needs of such people.
