Can a controlled half-wave rectifier with a series inductance, resistance and dc source in the load side operate as an inverter (Power direction from DC source to AC source)? Why?
1. In half wave controlled rectifiers, Unidirectional semiconductor device(like Thyristors) is used, Using bidirectional devices defeats the purpose of the rectifier. So current flow in reverse direction is not possible.
2. Inductance in the load makes it more concrete because Inductor does not allow the current direction to change instanataneously.
If we use Bidirectional switch, current flow in either direction is possible, but it can no longer act as rectifier instead it becomes AC voltage regulator
