The patient are seeing these cuts unwarranted and unjust. They think that poor and non insured people will be badly affected. Cutting back on social workers, Follow up, tchemotherapy, transportation services will be affected. Social safety net hospitals can not cater to needs to poor patients. Similarly rural hospitals which cater to larger percentage of poor and non insured people will face difficulty. The hospitals might have to cut back services provided to such patients. Govt thinks that subsidy to such programs was increasingly misused to provide services to higher classes. The govt further aims to shift such subsidy for reducing out of pocket expenses on drugs prescribed of larger section of people. However as per hospitals serving uninsured people, these sections of people are already covered by various health insurance plans and do not need such services.
