Great Man theory of Leadership assumes that leadership is
inborn quality. It cannot be created through Training. The Great
leaders such as the MK Gandhi, Alexander, Abraham Lincoln were born
with qualities which set them apart from rest of people.
But Spencer and other scholars do not agree with such
explanation. According to them, even though great leaders had
distinct abilities, they were shaped by the environment in which
they were born and raised. Leaders are molded by society they live
in. it is not necessary that all individuals with great inborn
qualities become great leaders. Leadership qualities can be
developed through training and skill trainings.
