Why is values-based leadership so important to the influence of culture? Does a symbolic act communicate more about company values than an explicit statement? Discuss

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Value based leadership is so important to the influence of culture because the value that go into it, interpersonal behavior, personal actions and expectations, organizational leadership and fairness with others are all the different values that can influence a culture. Having a leader with all those characteristics will guide the company into the right direction, like sanjiv das did with CitiMortgage. I think a symbolic act will communicate more about a company values than an explicit statement. The symbolic act will have more influence and show more about what the company stands for an explicit statement. An explicit statement will show what the company values are on paper, but they might not be the values inside the company. With the symbolic act , it will show that the values are being used in a symbolic way.
