There is wide range of hardware and software products marketed as network management tools designed to help network system administrators effectively manage the enterprise network. Why there is not necessarily an industry standard definition, network management functions span a number of areas, network provisioning, network operations, network maintenance and network administration.

From the security standpoint, in LAN , MAN , WAN without Network Management, any user/employee of that network could intentionally or accidentally break any end user policy in place since there is no firewalls, detections, and other defenses installed an managed. Hence network management is important in LAN , MAN, WAN.

Network management it is important in security point of view, one can manage the security in network using network management.
