Do you agree that new communication methods rule our communication world? In other words, what's more important: the medium, or the message?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

I agree that the new communication methods rule our communication world. In other words, I think the medium has taken a more important place than the message. Irrespective of how effective the message is, if the medium is not appropriate, it will not reach the intended target and therefore, fail to achieve the desired results. For example, social media is a new communication which has come into existence for a decade or so. If a company follows traditional communication medium like print media, it might miss reaching out to a large section of the target market. Social media now has a much higher reach than various forms of traditional communication media. Therefore, companies can ignore social media or other forms of new communication methods at their own peril. The medium has become a very crucial element in the communication process.
