What if the governor of your state announced that tomorrow would be no law day and that nothing would be penalized or enforced, no police would be present and no penalties would result from anyone's actions? What would you do?

Answer #1

I would still follow most of the laws because breaking the laws would have many moral and ethical effects on me. In addition, breaking the laws can have negative physical effects on me as well. For example, if I snatch someone's money or valuables by force, the sufferings caused to the person will have a negative emotional effect on me, which will affect my level of happiness. Similarly, if I break the law and race my car at a prohibitive speed, it may result in an accident which can result in injury or even death. Therefore, I would follow the laws if they are equally applicable today.

As a leader of a United States law enforcement agency, what actions would you take in an attempt to reduce reports of police mistreatment/brutality?

In 2017, the Texas legislature passed and Governor Greg Abbott signed legislation banning so-called sanctuary cities. The new law threatens sheriffs, police chiefs and other officials with jail time and removal from office if they do not cooperate with federal immigration authorities. And it allows police officers — even those on college campuses — to question the immigration status of a person they have arrested or detained, including during routine traffic stops. If you were a member of the legislature,...
