Preservation is one the most important steps involved in the EDRM model .

It referes to the way the Electronic Stored Information or the ESI is tored so as the data is safe from destruction or any unwanted modification . Whenever data is requested from the user they are mainly concerned how it will be stored and used and how secure their data is so it becomes quite importnat to make sure the data is strored safely.

the steps folowed are - first a strategy is developed then it is worked upon and the plan is prepared, then their alternatives are taken into consideration , and finally the best solution is implemented.

If the data preservation step is not taken seriously then it may lead to catastrophic damages, consider this you are collecting biometric data of citizens but have not impleented the preservation step correctly , any hacker will eb abale to exploit this and access the citizens data and use it for any illegal activities,
