  • Flashing is a material which directs water and avoid water passage from roof. On roof it is generally installed surrounding vents , chimneys, roof and wall intersection, gaps, joints, windows, etc to avoid water penetration.
  • Some important specifications of flashing are as follows-
    • Flashing are made of various materials such as metals, rubber, plastic,etc.
    • It is concealed or exposed.
    • Sizes of the flashing varies as per manufacturers.
    • Flashing can be self-adhering or fixed by adhesives or bolting or studs, etc.
    • There are many types of flashing according to the location at which it is to be installed or even shape.
    • Flashing material is water resistant.
  • Safety glazing is required for a window if-
    • Individual panel is exposed more than 9 sq.ft.
    • Glazing top edge from floor is excess than 36 inches.
    • Glazing bottom edge from floor is least than 18 inches.
    • Walking surface measured within 36 inches horizontally from glazing plane.
