In recrystallization, why is it necessary to allow enough time for your samples to dry?

Answer #1

Recrystalization wil be done for the enhancement in purity of the sample. Recrystalisation can be done in single or multiple solvents. The process of recrystalisation the sample should not soluble at room temperature, after heating to its boiling point the compound should be dissolved then settle the falsk or RBF to the rest possition and allowed to coll to RT then we can find some crystals which are highly pure than the previous compound. For this process we need to take some precautions. The sample should be dry because if the sample contains the solvent residue it can be soluble after adding the solvent at Roomtemmperature itslef. So there will be no crystals we can find after a long time.

What effect does recrystallization expected to have on the melting point of your product? Briefly explain why. I know that recrystillzation is a method to purify a desired product and depending how well or poor the process was done, it will affecting the melting point range. So if the recrystallization product is done well, then the melting point range will be very small indication that the desired product is near pure and vice versa. However, I can't seem to figure...

Three different paints were advertised as having the same dry time. To check manufacturer's claim, five random samples of each paint are taken (5 cans of each paint). The dry times in minutes (until ready to apply second coat) were recorded. At alpha of 0.05, test to see whether the mean drying time is the same for each type of paint. What is your conclusion?
