use covalent Lewis structure to explain why the compound that forms between nitrogen and hydrogen has the formula Nh3. show why NH2 and NH4 are not stable in 510 words

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Nitrogen valency is 3 . So nitrogen form three covalent bonds . Nitrogen form three covalent bonds to get stable octet electronic configuration.

N2 +3H2 -------> 2NH3

N= 3 1s22s22p3

NH3 is stable becuase of total valency electron is vaency shell is 4 .

in NH3 central atom nitrogen contains 3 bond pair of electrons and one lone pair of electrons.

: NH3

NH2 no octet configuration in its valency shell. Nitrogen does not form four bonds becuse of valency shell only three unpaired electrons .NH4 is not form
