Why do Nitrogen and Hydrogen form NH3 while sulfur and hydrogen form Hydrogen sulfide.?
Why is it possible to predict the formula of the compound formed by calcium and fluorine but not possible to predict the formula of the compound formed by sulphuric and fluorine.

The formuls of the compound is base of the ratio or proportion in which the each element present in the compound is reacting. Also, the formula of a compound is formed by cross valency rule in which the the valency of each element is crossed with another to get the formula. For example, in NH3 valency of nitrogen is 3 and the hydrogen is 1, therefore, they are crossed and result in the subscript of each otrher. Therefore, N has subscript 1 in NH3 and hydrogen has subscript 3.

while in case of H2S (hydrogen sulphilde) sulphide ion contains -2 charged thus, 2 is present in the subscript of hydrogen.

Calcium is metal having valency 2 and fluorine is non metal having valency 1 so the formula can be easily generated by placing subscrpit on F as 2 and on Ca as 1. thus, resulting formula is CaF2. but in case of sulphuric there is no specific formula for it as sulphuric exists as sulfuric acid.
