Melamine is a cyanamide type of organic compound which when combined with formaldehyde produces a substance called melamine resin, which is very strong , light , durable and heat resistant.

Due to having a less probability of breaking, melamine is used in substances like kitchen ware, floors, different type of utensils, high resistance concrete, soundproofing and insulation, etc.

Melanin was first discovered in the 1st half of 19th century by a german scientist named Justus von leibig. In the initial stages of discovery, melanin didn't seem to be of much use. But slowly with time, it is one the most used high density plastic used in cutlery etc.
