Can someone please break this down as simply to understand as possible

1. If a net ionic reaction occur when the substances are mixed then write it out. Otherwise write No Reaction

A. Ba(OH)2 aq + H2s aq

B. Aqueous sodium acetate is mixed with aqueous hydrochloric acid

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Whether a net ionic reaction can be written or not , is known if the products are precipitates or gases or soluble.

If the products are soluble there is no net ionic reaction as all remain in solution.

A) Ba(OH)2 (aq) + H2S(aq) ------------------> BaS(aq) + 2H2O(l)

As there is no precpitation or gas product there is NO NET IONIC REACTION.

SO NO REACTION

B)

NO REACTION

here also all the products remain in solution

CH3COONa (aq) + HCl(aq) ------------------> CH3COOH(aq) + NaCl(aq)
