6. Fluorobenzene would be unsuitable as an inert solvent for Friedel crafts alkylation Because Halogens bonded to benzene ring has three lone pairs. These three electron pairs can cause resonance in benzene ring. But, halogens are also highly electronegative and thus they have strong -I effect. So, they are deactivating groups.Deactivated benzenes are not reactive to Friedel-Crafts conditions, the benzene needs to be as or more reactive than a mono-halobenzene which in our case is Fluorobenzene.
