BIOCHEM!!!! PLEASE RESOND.....Consider the following reaction below where glucose is the substrate. The velocity of G6P production will be zero for which of the following conditions. CHOOSE ALL THAT APPLY Glucose+ ATP = G6P + ADP 1. cell does not express the enzyme 2. {Glucose}=0 3. allosteric effector makes km essentially zero 4.[ADP]=0 5.[ATP]=0 6.[G6P]=0

Homework Answers

Answer #1

It will be zero according to condition 1, 2, 3and 5.

1. the enzyme hexokinase is involved in this reaction of conversion of glucose to G6P and is necessary so without it forward reaction does not take place.

2. If glucose, the substrate which is to be converted, concentration is 0 then no forward reaction is possible.

3. the direction of conversion in the cell is dependent on the relative concentration of allosteric regulators which exert kinetic control over the enzymes by acting on them in opposing pathways.

5. if ATP, Glucose and hexokinase is present forward reaction takes place if allosteric factors allow.
