If I mixed 10 ml of 2-ethoxyethanol and added 2.6 ml of 2-bromo-2-methylbutane and 2.3 g of potassium hydroxide and only got 1 g of product, how do I figure the percent yield? I still don't understand that.

I did an experiment to prepare 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazone. I got 0.6 mL ketone, 2 mL ethanol, 6 mL of 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazone and put this all in a flask. I let the solution sit for 15 min then I collected the crystals. My product of crystals was 0.257 g. Please calculate the percent yield of the 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazone reaction assuming that the ketone is the limiting reagent.

I need to calculate the concentration (g/mL) of limonene in ethanol in order to calculate the specific rotation. (Observed rotation was 34.65 deg.) We made a solution by adding 2.33g of limonene oil to a 10-mL flask and then filling the flask to the 10 mL line with ethanol. My question is what figures do I use to calculate the concentration in g/mL? Is it 2.33 g limonene /10 mL total volume? Or: I used the known density of limonene...

.102 g pure caffeine is added to .1 mL methylene chloride and .1 mL water, shaken and allowed to separate. the water is removed and the remaining liquid is mixed with sodium sulfate. This is dry filtered with an additional .5 mL water into a flask. The remaining liquid is heated, leaving the solid behind. What is the caffeine's theoretical yield? Density of CH2Cl2 is 1.3255. Also, I started by finding by the KD = solubility in organic solvent (g/100mL)...

How do I find the weight precent iron (II)? We measured 1.0014 g of unknown iron sample and added 100.0 mL water. Then pipetted 10.00 mL of the first solution into a beaker and added 90.00 mL of water. Then added 1,000 microliters of the second solution to a plastic container along with the reagents needed to analyze it with a spectrophotmeter. This solutions total volume was 10.00 mL. I then measured the absorbance of this solution and got .019...

Preparation of tetraethylammonium tetrachloromanganate (II) [(C2H5)4N]2[MnCl4] Dissolved manganese(II) chloride tetrahydrate 2.0 g in 10 mL hot absolute ethanol. Dissolved tetraethylammonium chloride manohydrate ((C2H5)4N+ 3.7 g in 10 mL hot ethanol made crystals 3.19648 g. What is my limiting reagent? ( I guessed would be the 2.0g manganese (II) chloride tetrahydrate but I am not sure. I googled and it said the one completely used in reaction. My yield is my product weight? What is yield %?

How to calculate limiting reagent and percent yield? 4-methylcyclohexanol --> 4-methylcyclohexene I used 23 mL 4-methylcyclohexanol and 5 mL of Phosphoric acid. Do we use phosphoric acid to calculate theoretical yield if it is a catalyst? If we do then my percent yield comes out to be like 160% which is wrong because I have to use the limiting reagent which would be phosphoric acid. What do I do? 23mL 4-methylcyclohexanol (.914g/1mL) = 21g 21g (1mol/114.2g) = .184 mol .184...

I did an experiment known as "Identification of an unknown aldehyde and unknown ketone." First I added 0.2 mL aldehyde, 1 mL ethanol, 49 drops of water, 2 more drops ethanol, and 4 drops of phenylhydrazone in a flask. I put the solution in ice and crystals formed. My end product weighed 0.105 g. Please calculate the percent yield of the phenylhydrazone reaction assuming the aldehyde is the limiting reagent.
