When oxygen passes from the lungs into the circulatory system as a gas, how many cells does it have to pass through to be in the circulatory system?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Animal respiratory systems are intended to encourage gas exchange. In well evolved creatures, air is warmed and humidified in the nasal cavity. Air at that point goes down the pharynx, through the trachea, and into the lungs. In the lungs, air goes through the branching bronchi, achieving the respiratory bronchioles, which house the main site of gas exchange. The respiratory bronchioles open into the alveolar ducts, alveolar sacs, and alveoli. Since there are such huge numbers of alveoli and alveolar sacs in the lung, the surface area for gas trade is huge. A few defensive instruments are set up to forestall harm or contamination.

The Red blood cells carry oxygen from the lungs to the tissues of the body and carry carbon dioxide from the tissues of the body to the lungs. Each red blood cell contains millions of hemoglobin proteins that bind to oxygen and carbon dioxide allowing for transport. (isotonic blood), the morphology of red blood cells can be described as slightly ovoid, biconcave disks. When severe dehydration occurs, blood becomes hypertonic: water exits red blood cells and enters into the blood...

Which is true about how are cells use oxygen? A. When oxygen is present pyruvate is converted to lactate which enters the citric acid cycle. The reduced coenzymes donate hydrogen ions and high energy electrons to the electron transport chain, and oxygen acts as the final acceptor of hydrogen ions and low energy electrons after the hydrogen ions have passed through ATP synthase. B. When oxygen is present pyruvate is converted to Acetyl CoA which enters the citric acid cycle....
