Choose a question/problem you are interested in, come up with a testable hypothesis, and design a simple experiment to help answer this question. In your design, address the following:

1. What is your hypothesis? People infected with COVID 19 recover at a faster rate when given an injection of remdesivir than those that receive no injection or hydroxychloroquine.

2. Identify the following:

a. Independent variable – what variable are you manipulating

b. Dependent variables – what are you measuring; what is changing in response to changes in the independent variable

c. Controlled variables – what are those variables you are keeping constant

  1. Control group (will receive placebo injection)
  2. Experimental group (group receiving remdesivir or hydroxychloroquine)

d. What type of data will you be collecting? How will you measure and present your results.

I need help identifying the independent, dependent and controlled variables and what data I should collect

Answer #1

2.

a. Independent variable: Different doses of remdesivir which I am administering in the patients affected with COVID-19.

b. The symptoms of COVID-19 in the patients and how the effect of the remdesivir reduces the severity of the disease of the patients is the dependent variable.

c. Food supplied to every patient (whether received remdisivir or not ) should be identical. Hygeine and their living condition and other food supplement given to them should be identical for both group of patients. These are controlled variables.

d. You should test the swab from the both groups of patient regularly to decide whether COVID 19 infection is reducing or not in the patients who have been administered with remdisivir drug. Chest X ray should be done regularly to check the severity of lung blockage in both group of patients. Besides that overall health condition you have to monitor.
