A researcher is interested in the effects of alcohol use on extraversion. Design a study you could conduct to answer this question. 22a. What is your independent variable? How will you operationally define it (be specific here)? (2 pts.) 22b. What is your dependent variable? How will you operationally define it (be specific here)? (2 pts.) 22c. What is your hypothesis? What would the null hypothesis be?
22a. The independent variable is alcohol intake.
The alcohol intake will be operationalized by measuring the amount of alcohol a person drinks.
22b. The dependent variable is extraversion.
Extraversion is the behavior of a person in which that person enjoys being around people as compared to being alone. Hence, we can operationalize it as a categorical variable with two levels as being alone and being in public.
22c. Our hypothesis will be alcohol intake reduces extraversion that means people who are alcoholics are less likely to have people around them.
The null hypothesis will be: There is no difference between people who are alcoholic on extraversion.
