QUESTION 18

  1. Suppose you classify participants into two groups – those who are procrastinators and those who are not. This would be which type of design?

    a dependent variable design

    a mixed variables design

a within-subjects design (related measures) design

    a between-subjects (independent measures) design

  2. In ANOVA, the very first calculations of the amount of variability between groups and within groups is termed:

    sums of squares

    independent variables

    dependent variables

    participants

Answer #1

Question 18)

Suppose we classify the participants into groups- those who are procrastinator and those who are not belongs to a within subjects design ( related measures design).

Reason:- In related measure design the we can use same individual and test them on two or more separate occasions in that case within subject design used.the same conditions used in this example so within subject design is used.

In ANOVA the first calculation of amount of variabilty between & within groups is termed as sum of squares.

In ANOVA total sum of squares is split up into various sum of squares i.e sum of squares between groups and within groups hence it is termed as sum of squares.

This Question has 6 parts. Variability within groups in an ANOVA reflects any potential effect of a “treatment” among different groups. True False If the null hypothesis is true in a two variable chi-square test, the expected values will always be the same as the observed values. True False A two variable chi-square test is also known as a “goodness of fit” test. True False The Ŷ in a regression equation represents the “predicted” value of Y, when a chosen...

agree or not? Question 1: what is a one-way analysis of variance used for (Section 12-2)? One-way ANOVA (Analysis of Variance), is a statistical test that compares the variance in the group means within a sample while considering only one independent variable or factor. The hypothesis based test that is aimed to evaluate multiple mutually exclusive theories about data. In a one-way ANOVA there will be two different hypotheses. Meaning a test is done with two groups to see whether...
