Compare and contrast Interference with Exploitative competition and then tell me a little bit about the Niche Overlap Hypothesis.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

In exploitive competition, all the organism can equally access to the resources which are present in the surrounding. But the organism will differ in a way they are using these resources. Some organism will use the resources very fast and efficiently whereas, other organisms might use them less. But, in case of Interference competition, one group of organisms can control the available resources so these resources can be less available to other organisms.

Niche Overlap Hypothesis- lets think of two separate unit of organisms. Now, when these two organismic unit will use same available resources of the environment we will say it as a niche overlap. These kind of niche overlap will create a natural selection and ultimately these two groups will partition their resources.
